What is NFL play 60? It is the NFL movement for an active and healthy generation whereby children are encouraged to play for at least 60 minutes per day in order to help control their weight and keep them feeling spectacular! The NFL play 60 team wishes to partner with like-minded organizations which would include in-school activities, after school programs, team based programs as well as overnight summer camps!
What kinds of activities would the children engage in? NFL play 60 school activities may be similar to the in-school fitness testing we have had in the past at our schools. This may include counting the number of chin-ups and sit-ups the children can do, rope climbing and some jump rope activities. Educators can get involved through a partnership with The American Heart Association. Schools can download a fitness curriculum of easy ways to help schools become much more healthy and active! If health and wellness interests you as much as it does most parents, you will be thrilled to know that NFL play 60 has also partnered with the National Dairy Council. This in-school program makes sure children are getting healthy through activity as well as nutrition! Children become motivated to care for their schools’ health and well being through an interactive program and fun prizes!
Overnight Summer Camps, NFL Play 60, and After School Programs
After school programs may not be as fun as day camp or overnight summer camps, but they can be quite enjoyable! NFL play 60 really wants to get children involved in this movement so, they have graciously provided a place at the NFL shop for children to select t-shirts from their favorite teams, choose a size and then place the play 60 logo wherever they decide. It may not be matching overnight summer camp wear, but it still sounds like great fun for children. This way they can cheer for their favorite teams while engaging in plenty of after school exercise!
Overnight Summer Camps are Uniquely Fun
Overnight summer Camps such as Mountain Meadow Ranch in northern California offer a wide range of activities for children. Summer camps are a great way for kids to get and stay fit during the lazy days of summer. Summer Camps like Mountain Meadow have a range of activities both physical and artistic. The 800 ft. zip line and their high ropes course are unique and fun features that many children don’t get to experience anywhere else. Overnight summer camps offer kids a chance to socialize and have good, healthy fun that is lacking in today’s world.
The NFL’s play 60 site also offers ideas for the family to engage in lots of healthy fun. Start teaching your children that getting healthy starts with 60 minutes of active play each day. They will be watching you though, so be a good role model on getting fit! One last resource the NFL wants you to know about is their partnership with the United Way’s “Kids Get Fit” initiative where you will find plenty of tips on getting healthy. So, let’s get out there and move, play, laugh, engage the community and go to overnight summer camps or family vacation or wherever we can be most active!
